In a comparative study of Auto-ML platforms designed to simplify edge AI deployment, NanoEdge AI Studio and Edge Impulse emerged as leading solutions [1]. The comparison was conducted using multi-sensor biomedical data applied to predictive maintenance use cases.
The evaluation assessed the platforms based on cost, feature richness, ease of use, and performance, employing AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and TOPSIS methodologies in line with the opinions of independent experts. Test results show that Edge Impulse ranks first in academic use cases, while NanoEdge AI Studio leads in industrial applications.
In several benchmarks, NanoEdge AI Studio achieves performance levels close to custom-built solutions, thanks to its low memory footprint and short inference latency. Following STMicroelectronics’ acquisition of Cartesiam in 2021, NanoEdge AI Studio has been offered free of charge for STM32 products, significantly simplifying the development of edge AI projects.
