Flow sensors are devices used to measure the quantity of fluids such as liquids, gases, or air. What Is an Air Flow Sensor?

Air flow sensors are components located between the throttle valve at the end of the intake manifold and the air-filter housing in automotive systems. Also known as mass air flow (MAF) sensors, these units are designed to measure the temperature and mass of air passing through the air-filter housing and are directly connected to the engine. What Does an Air Flow Sensor Do?

An air flow sensor measures the temperature and mass of the air entering through the air filter and transmits this information to the engine control unit (ECU). The ECU uses this data to determine whether the engine should adjust its operation or report a fault. In short, the sensor informs the ECU about the amount of air flowing into the engine.
